Library Services at the University of Essex provides high quality, user-focused services to support the learning, teaching and research needs of the university. The User Services team is responsible for the delivery of a consistent, high quality library service to users, including the Helpdesk and the maintenance of the library space and environment.

Duties of the Role

We are currently seeking a Helpdesk Assistant who will play a key role in supporting the User Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling the more complex enquiries at the Helpdesk. They will provide support for accessing library resources, self-service and study facilities and will act as a referral point for other team members. They will be part of a team working to maintain standards and develop services. The role holder may be required to undertake regular evening and weekend duties supervising small teams of library staff.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Applicants should demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and IT skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service through innovation and continuous improvement.

This post is based at our Colchester campus and is offered on a part-time, permanent basis.
