Assistant Professor in Psychology

The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time position in the Department of Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor for the academic year 2018-2019 beginning August 1, 2018 (https://www.aup.edu/employment-opportunities). Candidates should be generalists in psychology who have the expertise to teach courses in social and personality psychology as well as qualitative and quantitative methods. We are especially interested in candidates who can connect their research and teaching to our major in Gender, Sexuality and Society or with one of the university’s research centers.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology, Human Development, or a related discipline by time of appointment (August 1st 2018). ABD candidates may be considered. Proven capacity for research and engaged teaching. Teaching experience within a liberal arts context or familiarity with liberal arts education is desirable. Strong interdisciplinary interest in the social sciences and/or an applied discipline is an asset. The candidate must be able to speak and write in fluent English. French fluency is not required but is a plus.

The Department: Psychology is a small but growing department with plans for expansion over the coming years (https://www.aup.edu/academics/departments/psychology).

Responsibilities: Teaching load of six courses for the year. Candidates will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in psychology at the undergraduate level, from introductory core to advanced courses. Possibility of teaching advanced courses in the candidate's research area.
