Director of Research Strategy

The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research - Glasgow Cancer Centre

The Glasgow Cancer Centre, which is funded by Cancer Research UK and the Beatson Cancer Charity, aims to integrate patient-focused cancer research at the Beatson Institute, University of Glasgow and NHS Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. Its activities are currently overseen and coordinated by its Leads (including the Director of the Beatson Institute and the Director of the Institute of Cancer Sciences), and its Governance and Management Boards. Its overall purpose is to drive and support high quality translational cancer research by leveraging additional funding and by providing some of the key components of a translational pipeline.

We have a vacancy for a Director of Research Strategy who will work with the Director of the Beatson Institute and Glasgow Cancer Centre to develop and implement multi-disciplinary cancer research strategies for the University of Glasgow and Beatson Institute. Reporting to the Director of the Beatson Institute and working in close partnership with the Director of the Institute of Cancer Sciences and Glasgow Cancer Centre lead researchers, this post holder will support and complement the work of both entities to deliver an overarching and integrated cancer research strategy for Glasgow.

You will be educated to PhD level with significant experience as a Team Leader or PI. Your background may be in industry or academia, but will include a proven ability to create a strategic vision and demonstrable experience of successfully delivering biological/chemistry projects, which support your vision.

In addition, you should have experience in managing IP, contracts and licensing arrangements and have independently secured external funding as well as developing bids for major funding and ensuring post-award delivery.
