Joint School of Southwest Jiaotong University - University of Leeds – School of Electrical Engineering

The SWJTU-Leeds Joint School is a new joint venture between Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and the University of Leeds (UoL). The Joint School in Chengdu will award dual degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering with Transport, and Computer Science. The programmes are jointly taught in English by existing staff from SWJTU, UoL, and others recruited directly for the Joint School, employed by SWJTU. The Joint School is committed to outstanding teaching and research across the natural sciences, engineering, and technology.

The Joint School invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

The field of this position addresses Embedded Systems with projects, Integrated Circuit Design, Verilog, Transistors, and Optoelectronic Devices.

The successful applicant may be appointed to a Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor, depending on his or her qualifications and career stage. The initial duration of this appointment is four years. It is possible to continue beyond this point.

The appointee will teach in the above mentioned areas in the Joint School, located in Chengdu, China. Holding a PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or similar, the appointee shall have excellent English language communication skills, and enthusiasm to teach at undergraduate level, with the potential to initiate, develop, and deliver high quality teaching, in English. Experience of teaching at undergraduate level is essential. High-level qualifications in scientific research are expected, along with capability to carry out research-based teaching.

The appointee will also have the opportunity to engage actively in research of relevant areas. The research activities will be based in but not restrict to the School of Electrical Engineering. It is possible to have an adjunct professorship dependent on the capacity of the appointee.

  • Competitive salary – 200,000-250,000rmb for the post of Lecturer.
  • Competitive salary – 250,000-300,000rmb for the post of Associate Professor/Professor.
