Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the UCL Division of Infection and Immunity funded by a Wellcome Trust Invertigator Award to Dr Mahdad Noursadeghi, with the aim of identifying the mechanisms by which genetically encoded differences in immune responses influence the outcome of infection with Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.

The post combines innovative molecular and system level assessments of in vivo human immune responses in Tuberculosis with in depth mechanistic studies of the human immune cellular pathways that control M. Tuberculosis growth.

The post holder will be supervised by Dr Noursadeghi and based at Cruciform Buildign. Dr Noursadeghi's group study host immune responses to infectious diseases at molecular and systems levels focussing on Tuberculosis and HIV ( )

The post holder will benefit from a critical mass of expertise in immunology, pathogen biology and bioinformatics at UCL and through collaborators at the University of Oxford and the Roslin Institute. Individuals aiming for subsequent fellowship applications will be actively supported and encouraged.

The position is available for 4 years in the first instance.

The post holder should have, or about to be awarded, a PhD in a relevant subject.

The successful candidate must have experience of human cellular immunology and molecular biology. Experience of transcriptomic data analysis, bioinformatics and statistics are also essential requirements.

Note: Appointment at grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £30,316 - £31,967 per annum) with payment at grade 7 being backdated to the date of the final PhD thesis submission.
