About the role:

MRC recently refreshed its strategic research priorities for a healthier society, increased innovation and productivity. The theme of life long mental health and dementia, is one of MRC’s four priority challenges.

In this role you will be required to manage projects within the lifelong mental health and dementia research themes as well as helping to commission and manage the analysis of research portfolios, to support review and development of MRC, UK or international strategy.

Main duties will include:

  • delivery of science projects and portfolio reporting
  • manage project delivery through liaising with various teams and monitoring progress against scientific deliverables and milestones; provide administration for project planning and stakeholder meetings – coordinating papers, taking minutes, recording actions and providing feedback to applicants
  • supporting the Head of Theme/Programme Managers and Information and Analysis team in day-to-day management of the relevant portfolio and its analysis, including reporting to senior management
  • manage effective stakeholder relationships across the programme of activity, covering the research community, funding agencies and policy makers
  • project manage and support the scoping and organisation of, workshops and other activities to support research community engagement and MRC strategy development.

About you:

You must be educated to a degree level in a science subject and be research literate.

It essential that you have good organisational and prioritising skills as well as good oral and written communication skills.

You should also have experience of working with multiple stakeholders and have familiarity with academic/industry biomedical research and its funding.

You should be familiar with the UK HEI scene and medical research in general.

It is desirable that you have experience of biomedical informatics, population/patient cohorts or other data driven scientific areas.
