Sanjaya Lall Visiting Professorship of Business and Development

A stipend of £35,000 for one term during the academic year 2018/19

Following a generous gift from the Sanjaya Lall Memorial Fund, the University invites applications for the Sanjaya Lall Visiting Professorship of Business and Development. The appointment of the Visiting Professor is intended to be made for one term during the academic year 2018/19 (Michaelmas Term 2018: 1 October – 1 December 2018; Hilary Term 2019: 7 January – 9 March 2019; or Trinity Term 2019: 22 April – 22 June 2019).

The Visiting Professor will be resident in Oxford for one term of the academic year 2018/19 and will be hosted by a department in the Social Sciences Division.

The Visiting Professorship will be in the area of Business and Development, broadly defined. The successful candidate will have an outstanding international reputation in scholarship and research and will be intellectually eminent in the field of Development Economics and business in emerging markets. In the spirit of Sanjaya Lall, the successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to adapt theory to understand novel research questions and methodologies. In addition to focusing on the problems of economic development and technology transfer in developing countries, the candidate should also show a strong flair for formulating strategic policy responses. The candidate will be willing to contribute to the growth of his or her subject area in Oxford. The Visiting Professor will also be expected to deliver at least one public lecture and to participate in seminars, workshops and conferences.

A stipend of £35,000 for one term is payable. This stipend is intended to be a supplement to the post holder’s current salary. No additional research or travel expenses will be provided.
