Information Analyst

The Open University - Strategy and Information Office

Based in Milton Keynes

Do you have a proven background in data and analytics and a desire to use these skills to benefit others? If so, this role helping the University predict how many students it will be able to teach and support may be for you.

We are looking for an analyst to join the Strategy and Information Office Data and Insight function (Planning, Forecasting and Modelling), a professional team producing institutional forecasts of the University’s student population to influence business management activities and inform financial and operational planning. With a strong background in analytics, the role will work with numerous teams across the University to accurately determine student numbers across the curriculum through the use of statistical best practice and local academic and business insight.

A degree (or equivalent) in a subject with a strong mathematics component is essential to this role. You will have experience of manipulating and analysing complex quantitative data using SAS, SAS EG or SQL. You will also have a sound knowledge of general statistical methods and best practice.  You will use your knowledge and expertise to support the practical application and development of the models, including the evaluation of model performance.

A team player, you will also have the ability to work with a range of stakeholders across our academic and professional services functions, helping colleagues to use our forecasting outputs by providing supporting analysis, advice and guidance.

This is an exciting time to join the university as it seeks to make data a source of competitive advantage, to maximise knowledge about its students and to develop the data capability to enable our students to maximise their success.

Closing date: Midday 23 February 2018
