Lecturer in Criminal Justice

Do you have experience in teaching and/or research in criminology, law or a relevant social science discipline? Do you have a passion for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students?

We are seeking a high calibre individual who is able to carry forward the vision of the School of Law with either a strong teaching and research profile or a strong teaching and scholarship profile. You should make clear in your application whether you are applying via the teaching and research route or the teaching and scholarship route.

You will deliver teaching in undergraduate and taught postgraduate modules in appropriate subject areas, as well as supervising dissertations and supervising or co-supervising PhD candidates. The ability to teach the Criminal Justice Processes and the Contemporary Criminological Theories and Approaches postgraduate modules is essential. You will also be expected to undertake a normal load of administrative duties within the School and work within the context of University values and policies, which are designed to promote dignity, diversity and inclusiveness.

With a background in either law, criminology/criminal justice or a relevant social science discipline you will be able to contribute to the international profile and standing of the School’s Centre for Criminal Justice Studies by:


On the teaching and research route, demonstrating evidence of excellence in teaching and a capacity to produce research of internationally excellent quality and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in criminal justice; maintaining a strong research and publication record, and enhancing the School’s research activities and research culture. 


On the teaching and scholarship route, demonstrating excellence in teaching and scholarship in the areas of criminology / criminal justice and the ability to promote pedagogical enhancement and innovative educational practices; engaging in curricula development and contributing to the School’s commitment to research based developments in education.
