Senior Lecturer, £50,618 to £58,655 or Reader, £52,131 to £64,089, depending on experience per annum, plus £2,923 London Weighting Allowance per annum

The India Institute, King’s College London, invites applications to the post of Senior Lecturer or Reader. We are seeking applicants with an outstanding track record of publications, success in securing research grants and a strong teaching profile relative to career stage with the potential to make a major contribution to the future growth of the King’s India Institute. 

The successful applicant will play a leading role in developing and delivering teaching programmes within the India Institute. They will also contribute to the development and teaching of new cross-cutting curricula within the School of Global Affairs, collaborating with colleagues in other Global Institutes. They will be expected to supervise dissertations, including supervision of PhD students. Experience or interest in delivering online learning would be welcomed.

The Senior Lecturer or Reader will have the potential to lead major research projects that attract external funding. The call is open as to field of specialisation but it is expected that the successful applicant will have a primary research focus on contemporary India which broadens and complements the research profile of the India Institute. The full job title will depend on the disciplinary profile of the appointee. While the successful applicant will have primary expertise in India, we also welcome applications from candidates who conduct research on India in comparative perspective.

The successful applicant should demonstrate a clear leadership trajectory and the initiative to work with colleagues at King’s and beyond in the further development of the research, teaching and public engagement of the India Institute, including its activities in India.

The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview.  Interviews will be held in early June 2018. Please note that interview by Skype is not possible.
