Departmental Manager

The Departmental Manager will lead the professional service operations of the UCL component of the LCN and deliver operational excellence across all administrative activities. The post holder will determine and implement the Centre’s support strategy for research and enterprise, develop and evolve administrative policies and procedures and implement those already established. S/he will manage the LCN professional service team and co-ordinate with the stakeholder Faculties, Schools and with UCL to ensure effective administrative support for the Centre. The post holder will be expected to contribute at a senior level within the organisation and negotiate with staff and external agencies and to achieve successful conclusions.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or have equivalent qualifications or substantial relevant experience. S/he will have a proven track record in administration and management within Higher Education or a similar environment, with experience of promoting and providing excellence in areas of administration and the provision of support services. Financial skills (financial management, budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, research grant portfolio management) are essential, as is experience of managing and developing a team of support staff.
