Seeking an exceptional leader with an excellent research reputation and proven track record of supporting and developing academic research area. 

Candidates should have research interests in Cyber Security that align with, and complement our Informatics Research Group; specifically Threat Intelligence, Malware investigation, digital forensics and penetration testing. Successful applicants will be expected to significantly boost our activity in this area and shape strategic direction within this rapidly developing domain in the wider directorate. This post will complement the capability of the existing research group and directorate and make a significant contribution to cyber security capacity building as part of our expanding student body, academic portfolio and research output. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute quality papers of 4* standard to our REF, to secure significant research income and to contribute towards our societal impact. In particular the Professor in Cyber Security will be responsible for: 

- Forging an active research agenda, aligned with the directorate's research strategy, publishing in relevant high-quality peer-reviewed journals and developing the team capacity to deliver this
- Generating bids for research funding to various bodies including research councils, industry and government 
- Recruitment to PhD topics in the field of Cyber Security 
- Identification of new educational opportunities and directions in Cyber Security and development of solutions to meet these 
- The ongoing development and delivery of a range of educational interventions 
- Supervising post-graduate students at Masters and Doctoral level 
- Enhancing the University's professional standing, reputation and impact
