Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Wave Modelling

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Environmental Fluid Mechanics group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by EPSRC/NERC and is fixed-term for 18 months.

You will be part of the project “Wave loading on offshore wind turbine monopiles”, which is a collaborative project between the Universities of Oxford and Edinburgh and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. You will be responsible for developing and running a numerical solver for the evolution of envelope-type equations (cf. nonlinear Schrödinger equation and beyond) on slopes and extending these equations to higher order and in a stochastic framework using analytical techniques (perturbation methods).

You should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion) and have a strong background in fluid mechanics. You should have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
