The salary will be paid at Grade 8 (Senior Lecturer), £50,618 to £58,655 or Reader Grade, £52,131 to £58,655, depending on experience, plus £2,923 London Weighting Allowance per annum.


The Department of Geography, King’s College London, invites applications for the post of Senior Lecturer/ Reader in Human Geography with interests in either urban or development geography. We are seeking applicants with an outstanding track-record of research, publications and external funding relative to career stage, and who have the ability to demonstrate a clear leadership trajectory in research and teaching. In particular, we seek applicants whose work contributes to the human geography of development and/or urbanism that complements and/or extends that of the Department’s Contested Development Research Domain and/or Urban Futures Research Domain. Applications are particularly sought from those whose work has contributed to furthering an understanding of: critical approaches to development; urban environments and geographies of the global south; urban cultural geography; urban geographies of development; cities and sustainable development, geopolitics or tourism and development. The appointed candidate will promote and advance high-quality teaching and learning through curriculum development and the management, delivery and monitoring of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This post will form part of our investment in strengthening and deepening our research profile and the student experience in Geography at King’s and is consistent with the Department and Faculty's vision for growth and commitment to research excellence.

The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview. Interviews are likely to be held the week the week of 30 April. Please note it will not be possible to have Skype interviews.
