Online Distance Learning Administrator

Job Purpose

This is a key lead role contributing to the wider administrative management of online distance learning (ODL) provision across the University. The ODL administrator will provide a central point of support and co-ordination for ODL delivery and is responsible for ensuring the successful administrative delivery, management and co-ordination of ODL (programmes and courses) between the University and external parties involved in the delivery of ODL.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for leading the administrative delivery of ODL within agreed timescales; establishing robust delivery schedules and applying discretion in co-ordinating project delivery activities to produce successful services that meet business needs. Report to the appropriate senior staff and committees on all aspects of the delivery and management of ODL.
  2. Work closely with the Digital Education Team Manager on developing plans for the delivery of ODL programmes; monitoring progress of work against plan; evaluating alternatives and initiating corrective action when required.
  3. Communication with all relevant stakeholders: including consultation and management of expectations; and engaging and managing stakeholders (eg academic management, administrative staff) to ensure clarity in the delivery of key project messages (verbal and written).
  4. Liaise with academic and administrative staff across the University directly involved in ODL programmes and course provision to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to deliver ODL programmes within agreed timescales.
  5. Liaise with academic and administrative staff across the College directly involved in ODL programme and course provision to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place in compliance with University requirements in relation to academic standards, regulations and quality assurance and enhancement procedures.
  6. Engage in the continuous monitoring and enhancement of provision, by reporting on areas of good practice, areas of concern and student and staff feedback. Ensure that students’ needs are considered and met where appropriate.
  7. Promote the integration of services and development of joint or alternative working arrangements to improve services.
  8. Work closely with, and maintain an effective network of communication with University-wide academic and administrative staff as appropriate.
  9. Liaise with staff in University offices (e.g Senate Office, Registry, SLSD, Student Services) and ensure good working relationships are maintained to ensure delivery of ODL provision.

Terms & Conditions

Salary will be on the Management, Professional and Administrative Grade, level 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum.

This position is offered on a full time and open-ended basis: Monday to Friday 09.00 – 17.00.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
