Shannon College of Hotel Management, founded in 1951, is Ireland’s only dedicated hotel management college with a worldwide outstanding reputation. In 2015 it became a School of the College of Business, Public Policy and Law, at NUI Galway.  We offer two Level 8 degrees, preparing students for careers in business and hotel management. Central to our ethos is a focus on intensive practical training, extensive business studies and international work placements which ensures students graduate with a bachelor’s business degree and 21 months of relevant experience. In addition, from September 2018, we are offering an MSC in Business and Hospitality in full and part-time modes.

Applications are now invited for a Senior Lecturer in Business (.6FTE permanent) This is an exciting new development that has arisen due to internal reorganisation. The key teaching areas of the business discipline are; human resource management, operations management, strategy, marketing, accounting and management.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and examining at all levels; engage in student mentoring, contributing and upholding the Shannon College ethos and values and assist with administration and the development of programmes. They will also engage in scholarship and research and contribute to the intellectual life of the University and the wider community.

Candidates will have Level 8 Honours Degree or equivalent in Business, Hotel Management, Tourism, and hold a Hospitality Master’s Degree in Business or cognate area. Hotel, hospitality experience at managerial level in 4/5-star hotels would be an advantage.

Salary:  At Senior Lecturer level:

€66,035 to €91,242 p.a. pro rata.

This appointment will be made on the Senior Lecturer scale in line with current Government pay policy.
