Director of Student Services

We are seeking to appoint a Director of Student Services, who will be responsible for the delivery and enhancement of services for and about students, including services relevant to the provision of support for teaching and learning, at the University of Reading.

Under the leadership of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Teaching and Learning), you will undertake strategic planning and lead the delivery and enhancement of the University’s student support and development services. You will lead the teaching and learning administration for academic schools, and other services that deliver the essential teaching and learning operations within the University.
An inclusive and collaborative leader you will be passionate about continuous improvement and experienced in leading and implementing change effectively.

You will have:

  • Knowledge of the major issues and priorities in teaching and learning.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to demonstrate an inclusive and collaborative leadership style.
  • Awareness of current policy and climate in HE both nationally and internationally; along with an understanding of the regulatory issues relevant to HE.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop innovative solutions, lead and implement change.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • The ability to think strategically, prioritise and make decisions whilst working across boundaries in a complex organisation.
  • Good knowledge of financial management and demonstrable experience of managing budgets.
  • Experience of positive impact in a similar leadership role.
