We are seeking a Grants Adviser. In this job, you’ll be a vital part of Wellcome helping us to achieve our aims. You will join people with different backgrounds and different perspectives who work together to produce great results. Grants Management is at the centre of delivering Wellcome’s mission. Working in partnership across Wellcome we are responsible for the delivery of grant funding schemes, from basic biomedical and clinical sciences, to public health, medical humanities, public engagement and translational research. Our task is to ensure that all grant applications are managed, reviewed and awarded in a timely and efficient manner, providing high quality support to applicants, award holders and reviewers.

In this role you will:

Your main duties/responsibilities will involve:

  • Managing applications and awards for our neuroscience and mental health schemes
  • Due diligence of grant applications
  • Managing peer review
  • Preparation of applications for funding committees
  • Handling ongoing queries and casework for awarded grants
  • Supporting and advising our community of researchers on their management of grant applications and awards

Experience & Skills

About you:

To succeed in this job, you will need to have:

  • Experience of the academic research environment
  • Strong understanding of research funding mechanisms
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of managing large databases

Education & Qualifications

  • Educated to at least degree level in neuroscience
  • Flexible in your approach to managing complex priorities
  • Able to deliver and maintain high quality work in periods of higher workloads
  • Able to build and manage relationships internally and externally
  • Keen to be involved in ad hoc project work and to actively participate in team meetings
