Fixed Term Contract for 9 months.

We are looking for an enthusiastic academic technologist to manage digital tools and data in support of teaching, learning and research in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies, with a focus on supporting the use of digital methods by students and academics. This is a fixed term part-time post to cover maternity leave.

You will be responsible for the maintenance of server-based data sets and instruments, including online and mobile data capture (APIs, scraping, apps) and analytic techniques primarily those grounded in spatial analysis, networked content analysis and data visualisation. You will also be responsible for conducting and supporting training workshops and lab sessions with students as well as offering one-to-one training tutorials in the use of digital and spatial methods of data capture, analysis and visualisation.

You will be able to contribute to create high-quality teaching material for students from a variety of backgrounds on the effective use of geospatial technologies and Geographic Information Systems (e.g. QGIS, R and GeoDa). Besides the teaching support, you should be able to contribute to additional training workshops for smaller groups, which will offer more specialised skills for the students using data analysis methods in their dissertation projects (which may include collections of primary online data via APIs, plugins and/or coding, data processing, spatial analysis, network analysis, spatial statistics among others). You will collaborate with academics to identify and assess opportunities offered by digital technology to formulate and enhance study and research.

You will work under the supervision of the Centre Director.
