The Royal Society, the UK’s premier scientific body, is looking for an exceptional individual to help manage and develop a key part of its International grant programmes.

The Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the UK dedicated to promoting excellence in science. Our International Grants team manage a range of fellowship and grants programmes which provide support for high calibre scientists in the UK and overseas.

We are now looking for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate to join our Grants section. We are seeking an individual with excellent organisational, people and stakeholder management skills and an interest in supporting cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries.

Proven experience working in a research management or grant funding environment is essential. You will be responsible for managing, administering and supporting the development of the Royal Society’s Global Challenges Research Fund programmes, which represent a significant new investment by the Society. You will also be expected to develop and maintain strong working relationships with external partners and government contacts in the UK and overseas and to represent the Society at external events and forums. You will have proven ability to facilitate meetings and discussions, manage sizable budgets, analyse complicated data, and implement robust monitoring and evaluation processes. You will be a creative thinker with fresh ideas, capable of using your initiative to the full, dealing with people from diverse cultures and taking on wide-ranging responsibilities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of International Grants helping to fulfil our strategic objectives and ensure maximum impact and effectiveness of the Society’s new programmes.
