Lecturer in Medical Sciences – Physiology

The School wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Sciences to lead and contribute to course management, course delivery and course development in this area and to undertake related research and knowledge transfer activities.

Working within a committed and enthusiastic team you will focus primarily on programmes in the School of Medicine including the MBBS, the BSc Medical Sciences, the Foundation Medical Sciences and the Physician Associates programmes. You will contribute to the areas of course delivery and assessment in Physiology within the School of Medicine. You will also undertake income generation, research and knowledge transfer through relevant activities and undertake specific course leader responsibilities in related programmes.

You will hold a PhD in Physiology or Anatomy and Physiology. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) or recognised teaching qualification are not an essential requirement, but would be desirable.

Experience of teaching Physiology within Higher Education is essential, along with experience of using a variety of teaching and learning approaches and of supporting students as an academic advisor/person tutor. You will have a commitment to continued professional development and of the University’s strategy and values.

You must possess excellent communication and presentation skills; have an ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently; and the ability to pursue your own research.
