University of Nottingham - Pharmacy

Location: University Park
Salary: £26,495 to £31,604 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £29799 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

We are currently seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join a collaborative international multidisciplinary team to work on a research project funded though the EPSRC’s Healthcare Technology Challenge Award scheme aimed at developing bioelectronic technology to transform healthcare.

The successful candidate will provide nano/micro particle expertise to develop and functionalise carbon nanotubes, gold nanoparticles and/or silicon nanoparticles. The particles will be functionalised with redox active bio/molecules and the ability to perform bipolar electrochemistry using 3D printed electrodes at the particles will be established. The developed nanotechnology will then be applied to cellular systems with the aim to modulate cell behaviour by electrochemically wirelessly controlling cell redox thereby modulating cell function.

To be suitable for this post you must have at least an upper-second class degree, a PhD submitted or awarded in nanotechnology, electrochemistry, materials chemistry or relevant area and a proven research track record. You need to demonstrate a proactive, dynamic and dedicated approach to work. Your excellent communication skills should be evident from written reports and publications, as well as presentations and discussions.

The full time post is offered on a fixed term contract for 3 years.
