Research Technician

University of Bristol - Bristol Veterinary School

The Bristol Veterinary School is seeking to appoint a full time Research Technician with a background in animal welfare science to work with Professor Mike Mendl, Dr Carole Fureix, Dr Liz Paul and a Research Associate on a three-year BBSRC funded research project which builds upon our previous research. The results will have clear implications for detecting welfare problems and improving laboratory animal welfare.

You will be responsible for collection and collation of data alongside the Research Associate, and for keeping accurate records of procedures, outcomes and any events that might affect the experimental results. The post-holder will assist with day-to-day organisation of the project, presentation and reporting of results, and the project involves public engagement activities which the post-holder will also help to organise.

You should have previous experience of working in animal welfare science, an understanding of scientific methods, an ability to collect, collate and store data accurately and to use Microsoft Excel and statistical software to produce descriptive summaries and basic analyses of data, good animal handling skills, good communication skills, and be able to work as part of a team.

For informal enquiries contact Professor Mike Mendl (mike.mendl@bristol.ac.uk) or Dr Carole Fureix (carole.fureix@plymouth.ac.uk).

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
