PhD Studentship: 'Smart Droplets: Synthesis, Separation and Selection through Chemically Controlled Droplet Fusion/Fission for Temporal and Spatial Patterning of Reactivity'

Durham University - Department of Chemistry

Closing date: 31 March 2018.

The Kitching Group is looking to recruit a PhD student in the field of organic synthesis and dynamic temporal and spatial patterning of reactivity using droplet-based reactor systems.

Ideally you will be an independent, resourceful, committed and ambitious researcher – driven by a love of science and a desire to publish. A strong background in organic chemistry is useful, but not a prerequisite and applications of candidates from a wide range of backgrounds will not be disadvantaged.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further please contact Dr Kitching (, including a covering letter, current academic CV, and two referees. Potential applicants are also welcome to contact Dr Kitching with informal enquiries.

The position is available with an immediate start up to October 2018.

The position is only open to applicants from the UK or EU for fee purposes.  Early applications are strongly encouraged as the position will be filled when a suitable candidate is identified.
