Data Protection Officer

Permanent, full-time (part-time considered)

Arden University is seeking to appoint a Data Protection Officer to lead and coordinate all activity within the University relating to data protection and to support its ongoing compliance with data protection legislation. Duties will include implementation and monitoring of relevant internal policies and procedures, advising on the necessity and conduct of data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), dealing with subject access requests, liaison with the ICO and other supervising authorities and providing advice, guidance and training to all staff on data protection and data security.

The successful candidate will be proficient in data protection law, including the specific requirements of the GDPR, with proven ability to implement change, to negotiate and influence across an organisation, and to build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Experience of working in higher education will be advantageous, but is not essential. Excellent analytical and organisational skills are required.
