Research Fellow

University of Southampton - Computational Systems Chemistry

A postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the group of Dr Russell Minns at the University of Southampton. The project entitled “Photoelectron interferometry as a structural and dynamical probe” will measure photoelectron angular distribution of aligned molecules using a number of advanced light sources, including those associated with high harmonic generation and free electron lasers. The project will be performed in collaboration with Prof. Katharine Reid at the University of Nottingham and Prof. Henrik Stapelfeldt at Aarhus University. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an existing High Harmonic Generation beamline for velocity map imaging, and the implementation of non-adiabatic alignment of molecular samples in Southampton. Candidates must have a PhD in physical chemistry or chemical physics and must have experience with high vacuum apparatus and with operating ultrafast laser systems. Experience with velocity map imaging, high harmonic generation, inversion techniques and programming in Matlab and/or Labview will be an advantage.
