Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow

Applications are invited for a six-month fellowship, starting on 1 September 2018. The fellow will be based at the GIGA Institute of Asian Studies (IAS) and will be part of the team working on India particularly in GIGA’s Research Programme “Power and Ideas”.

The fellow will be working broadly on Indian politics and/or foreign policy. We are particularly interested in candidates focussing on one or several of the following themes:

  • Digitalization in India;
  • the role and evolution of political communication (incl. social media) in India;
  • state and non-state actors and their agency in Indian foreign policy making;
  • connectivity in Indian foreign policy and Asian geopolitics;
  • Indian party ideologies.

Your qualifications:

  • affiliation with a university or research institution in India;
  • doctoral degree in political science or a related social science field;
  • excellent publication record in line with academic age;
  • a concrete research agenda for your stay with the GIGA.

The fellowship carries a 2,500 euros stipend per month plus health insurance and travelling costs from India to Hamburg (return ticket, economy class).
