Salary: £35,850 - £44,220 per annum, fixed term until 31st Dec ‘20

The Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London is at an exciting time in its history. Already a world-leading Department, from mid-2018 we will occupy state-of-the art new research facilities at Imperial’s new White City Campus.

The EPSRC-funded Centre for Rapid Online Analysis of Reactions (ROAR) is the UK’s first Grand Challenge Institute, based at the Molecular Sciences Research Hub at Imperial College’s White City Campus (  It offers state-of-the-art automated reaction platforms and analytical instruments dedicated to the study of reactions through the acquisition of large quantities of high quality data. The mission of ROAR is to enable researchers to perform cutting edge research in synthetic chemistry.

As a Research Technician in the Centre for Rapid Online Analysis of Reactions you will operate and maintain our suite of specialised equipment and software, train new users in the operation of our facilities, and provide technical services to the ROAR facility. 

  • You will have studied Chemistry to a degree level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of chemical safety and Control of Substances
  • Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations
  • You will have prior experience of working in a complex Chemistry laboratory environment
  • You will have prior experience in the operation of analytical instruments
  • You will have a working knowledge of at least two of the following:

        -   infra-red spectroscopy

        -   liquid chromatography (HPLC and UPLC)

        -   mass spectrometry

        -   calorimetry

        -   flow chemistry

        -   laboratory automation

        -   high-throughput experimentation.

  • You will have advanced computer skills, good record keeping abilities and technical problem solving capabilities.
