A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious engineer in the field of space robotics. You will support the establishment of the Manchester Space Robotics network. The key objectives of the research network is to consolidate relevant science and technology expertise within the university, develop links with external industrial partners and bring together a critical mass of multidisciplinary expertise to secure external funding to sustain activity. A program of internal UoM workshops and industry engagement events is proposed within the timescale of this post, additionally a technology demonstrator will be developed to consolidate and showcase expertise within UoM.

Key aspects of this role will involve the development of a key technology demonstrator focused on biomimetic locomotion for space exploration. Additionally you will be involved in the development of the research network engaging with science and technology groups across the university and supporting internal and external engagement workshops.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace engineering or related disciplines and ideally have experience in robotics hardware testing and development or related experience. You should be capable of working under your own initiative, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
