Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Microwave Engineering

King's College London - Department of Informatics

This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 36 months.

A Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available in the Department of Informatics to work with Dr. Panagiotis Kosmas in a three year Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) project funded by EPSRC titled, “Detecting and Monitoring Stroke in China Using a Low-Cost, Portable Microwave Scanner (DeMoStroke)”. The successful candidate should have demonstrable research skills in microwave engineering and experimental measurements. The post will focus on developing a device for detecting and monitoring stroke, in collaboration with the project’s partners in China, led by Prof Yifan Chen, South University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen.

The project aims to build on existing expertise by the partners towards the development of a portable and low-cost system for stroke detection and monitoring. The proposed system will use microwaves to image the occurrence and evolution of stroke in an accurate manner, thereby removing the need for expensive imaging systems (such as CT scans) which would result in significant delays in treatment decisions.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in electrical engineering, mathematics, or related areas (or near completion), with demonstrable research expertise relevant to the project role.

The selection process will include a panel interview.   Interviews are scheduled to be held in the week 05-09 February 2018. To find out more about the role please contact Dr Panagiotis Kosmas via email at:

To apply for this role, please go to the King’s College London HireWire Job Board and register to download and submit the specified application form.
