Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 with a discretionary range to £42,418 p.a.

The Faculty are seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Russian (1820 – present day) from 1 October 2018 until 30 September 2019. The Departmental Lecturer will contribute to the teaching of Russian within the Sub-faculty of Russian and other Slavonic Languages by offering 24 hours of lectures or seminars per year. They will also be responsible for providing 6 hours a week of undergraduate tuition in Russian language and literature at a number of colleges, including St Edmund Hall and Queen’s College.

They will be expected to share in the teaching of the set texts for the Preliminary Examination in Russian, give tutorials and classes for Paper VIII (1820 to the present day) in the Final Honours School and the relevant authors/text in early modern and modern literature, and to supervise extended or bridging essays as appropriate, as well as contributing to language teaching, primarily in the form of translation from Russian into English.

Applicants must possess: exceptional fluency in Russian and English, a good undergraduate degree in Russian, a PhD or DPhil in Russian. The selection committee will, in exceptional cases, consider applications from those still to complete their doctorate, provided that they will have submitted it by 1 September 2018.
