Reader in Operational Research

Kent Business School is seeking to appoint a Reader in Operational Research to join the Management Science group on an on-going and full-time basis.

You will be keen to contribute to teaching and market-driven curriculum development, supervise research students and mentor junior colleagues. Evidence of leadership in impactful research through substantial research grants and/or consultancy funding is expected. We are particularly interested in applicants who can fill current research and teaching gaps within the group, including one or more of the following: discrete event simulation, operations management and problem structuring methods.

As Reader in Operational Research you will:

  • Provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of innovative, high-quality and demand-driven taught programmes.
  • Engage in high-quality and impactful research at acceptable levels of volume and excellence.
  • Support the management of the School, by taking on key roles and serve on School, Faculty or University working groups or committees, as required; offer guidance, support and mentoring to junior members of staff working in the same or cognate research and teaching areas.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Teaching experience in two or more of the following areas: Operations and Service Management, Business Statistics, Simulation, Soft OR
  • Evidence of income generation, e.g., through research grants, enterprise activity, consultancy, etc.
