Salary: £33,518 to £38,833 per annum (pro-rata if part time) together with USS pension benefits.

The Reduced Industrial Carbon Emissions (RICE) operation has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government. This multi-million-pound operation is designed to stimulate growth in Wales and achieve a global impact through a coordinated programme of transnational activities by combining established expertise, in algae conversion and hydrogen generation, with emerging expertise in heat-to-electricity, CO2 capture, and chemical waste, and their conversion to high value added products, in order to create new enterprises that can be integrated into present energy intensive industries to reduce CO2 emissions, resulting in both SMEs and new businesses for existing SMEs leading to the successful translation of research and innovation processes into new and improved commercial products, processes and services. The operation is led by Swansea University, in collaboration with the University of South Wales.

The RICE Operation Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the RICE operation, carrying out detailed strategic planning and carrying out tasks to ensure efficient high quality and timely inputs, and for ensuring that the project maintains its strategic vision and that its activities result in the achievement of its intended outputs in a cost effective and timely manner. The M&E officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the M&E plan and will be responsible for the collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities; assisting the Project Manager in preparing Quarterly/Annual reports on project progress and will monitor the project outputs on a regular basis. The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Cross Cutting Themes across all activities within the RICE Operation and will work in close collaboration with the project team, the RICE operation management board and project partners, and stakeholders including, Welsh Government officials, private sector, non-government and civil society organisations.
