Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,799 to £38,832. With potential progression once in post to £41,212 a year

We are looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our Strategic Projects and Partnerships Team within Research Support Services (RSS) to support and develop the Strategic Themes for Major Funding (STMF) Programme. The post holder will report into the two Heads of Strategic Projects and Partnerships (HoSPP) for Engineering and Physical Sciences (College of EPS) and Life Sciences (the Colleges of MDS and LES).

The Strategic Projects Development Officer will assist the team in developing major high-value strategic research projects. Many of these research projects will be multi-disciplinary, cross-College and multi-partner in nature, including with industry. The role will provide strategic support to the University’s Executive Board (UEB), Heads of College and Directors of Research in the Colleges, Academic Leads and other teams in Professional Services in developing proposals and business cases for securing major investments for research and innovation. The post-holder will also be expected to support numerous strategic relationships with key funding and stakeholder bodies and partner organisations, nationally and internationally.

Working across the STMF portfolio of projects, the key responsibilities of this post include: facilitation of meetings, workshops and profile-raising and showcasing events; working with Professional Services teams to develop bespoke communications and research development strategies; liaising with internal and external stakeholders and partners; providing project management support such as composing and managing project development documentation, risk management activities, performing due diligence and project planning.

RSS is a unit of the Finance Office and supports research across the University through local teams based in the Colleges (College Research Support teams) and specialist teams based at the Research Park (focusing on aspects such as EU, International, Regional and Innovation funding sources). RSS, alongside the Research Support Group and functions based in Strategic Planning and Library Services, form part of the wider research support ecosystem of the University.
