Salary: Grade 6, £28,098 - £31,604 / Grade 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum

Transmitted HIV-1 may be particularly resistant to human innate immune defences. The post holder will the join the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) ( and will play a leading role in a research programme focussed on identifying and characterising genome-encoded antiviral defences that target HIV-1. Specifically, the aim of this work is to identify novel antiviral host genes, which inhibit HIV-1, in order to better understand the viral and host determinants that influence HIV-1 transmission.

The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project, as opportunities allow.
