The Department of Sociology are seeking a full-time Associate Lecturer for 22 months from September 2018, to cover the teaching workload of one of our lecturers on a research project

You will contribute to the delivery of a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Department including seminars, lectures and assessment.  We are seeking a candidate who is able to teach on modules including social psychology, sociological theory, research methods, political sociology, body and society, and the sociology of health and illness. You will also be expected to contribute to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and in supporting students in their learning and University experience

You will have a postgraduate degree in Sociology or Social Psychology and will have a detailed knowledge in these disciplines sufficient to develop teaching and provide relevant learning support to students across different levels of academic ability.  A PhD in Sociology and/or Social Psychology is desirable.

You will be able to supervise students and contribute to the design and development of course material within the Department, and will have experience using different delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. You will design and deliver teaching material across a range of modules and will use your highly developed communication skills to engage a wide-ranging audience. You will have the ability to plan, manage, organise and assess your own teaching contributions.

You will have experience in teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and/ or postgraduate level or in an evidenced similar context and be able to evidence successful planning and design of teaching.

You will demonstrate attention to detail and be committed to high quality work, as well as a positive attitude towards colleagues and students.

This post is available on a fixed term basis for 22 months.
