Research Technician Grade 5

Tenure: Until 30 April 2019 

You will be highly-motivated and will work within a team of neutrophil biologists and clinical rheumatologists.  You should have a Degree in cell biology or immunology (or related subject) and experience of tissue culture and/or working with clinical samples (such as whole blood). You will investigate biomarkers of response to TNF inhibitors in inflammatory disease and will be responsible for the co-ordination, collection and processing of clinical blood samples from 5 hospitals across the Merseyside Region (Aintree, Broadgreen, St Helens, Arrowe Park and Chester). You will be responsible for the isolation of neutrophils from peripheral blood samples of patients with inflammatory disease, including quality control of sample purity, and preparation of RNA. In addition, you will also be responsible for the collation of clinical demographics for patients in the study. You will be required to travel across the Merseyside Region to collect clinical samples and some flexible, out of hours working will be required. The post is available for until 30 April 2019 and will be based at the Clinical Science Centre, University Hospital Aintree.
