Research Assistant

A position for a Research Assistant is available to help run experiments in Dr Helen Rowe's research group covered by Wellcome Trust funding.

Dr Rowe's group is focused on epigenetic pathways through which endogenous retroviruses regulate cellular genes.

The post holder would be required to help finish research projects within the team, which would mainly involve providing technical assistance to Dr Rowe but the post holder would also run some of their own independent experiments.

The role will also involve managing orders, organising reagents, and helping with the analysis of high throughput sequencing data.

The post holder will be based at the Cruciform Building on the main UCL Bloomsbury campus, which is at the heart of London close to Oxford circus.

The post is available immediately until 31/01/2019 in the first instance.

The post may become extendable for an additional three years, or alternatively the post holder may be able to register for a PhD on the same topic in Dr Rowe's lab subject to the lab securing ongoing Wellcome Trust funding.

The successful applicant should have a BSc or equivalent in Biology, Virology, Epigenetics or related subject. Experience in general laboratory skills and ability to comply with regulations for lentiviral vector preparation and handling is also essential. They must be able to manage time and work to strict deadlines. They must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a wide range of colleagues.
