This job description is indicative, not prescriptive, and the balance of duties will be in accordance with the contract of employment.

Role Summary:
This is a key institutional post that will contribute to the ambitions of the University’s new Strategic Plan 2017/18 – 2022/23.

To be responsible for positioning the University in its legal obligation to comply with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act, the General Data Protection Regulation/data protection legislation and the Environmental Information Regulations.

In accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation, the post holder will act as the designated Data Protection Officer for the University.

To be the central point of contact for the University should a Data Breach take place. The post holder will be responsible for determining whether the Information Commissioner should be informed together with advising on what mitigating actions can be taken to minimise damage to the Data Subject and the University’s reputation.

To develop, implement and monitor records management policies, procedures and standards across Cardiff Metropolitan University.
