The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is part of the Cancer Institute at University College London and is based on Tottenham Court Road. The majority of staff are funded on Cancer Research UK programme or project grants and there is some additional support in the form of grants from industry or other charities.

The CTC is responsible for the development and conduct of clinical trials to evaluate new approaches to the treatment of cancer and is a UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit. The CTC has a portfolio which includes multicentre phase III trials using survival, tumour response and quality of life as endpoints. The portfolio also encompasses phase I and II trials, some with biological endpoints, and there is an interest in screening studies within the organisation. CTC staff collaborate with clinicians and research staff in the UK and abroad. The CTC Director is Jonathan Ledermann, Professor of Medical Oncology at UCL. We currently include the following areas of specialisation; advanced therapies, brain, lung, haematology, gynaecology, gastrointestinal (GI) tract (lower and upper), bone sarcoma, head & neck (inc. thyroid), and prostate.

The main purpose of this post is to provide clerical support to the trial teams. Accurate and timely filing of trial-related documentation is of utmost importance in clinical trials and the primary duty of the Administrative Assistant will be to assist with this filing.

This position is funded for one year in the first instance.

The postholder will be work across a number of trial teams and will be supported by an experienced member of staff. They will be responsible for general administration duties, which will primarily consist of filing (~80% of postholders time). We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Experience with with Microsoft Office software, in particular Word and Excel and previous filing experience are essential. An understanding of medical terminology and previous data entry experience would be useful.
