About the Role

AHRC now have an exciting opportunity for a Programmes Co-ordinator to join the team in Swindon. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational management and administration of grant applications, including selecting specialist peer reviewers and panellists and managing applications and awards throughout their lifecycle. There will be opportunities for you to work directly with the arts and humanities academic community and contribute to the organisation’s strategic priorities, through engagement with our portfolio of funded projects and attending relevant events.

Responsibilities of the role: 

  • Manage the end-to-end assessment process for funding applications, taking responsibility for a number of applications and awards
  • Build links with academic communities and help to deliver the highest standards of peer review by selecting the most appropriate peer reviewers for each of the research applications received
  • Be responsible for responding to queries, providing advice, guidance and judgement in areas such as peer review and peer review policy and process to potential applicants, peer reviewers and award holders
  • Be responsible for selecting panellists, managing panels and ensuring that recommendations and feedback are recorded accurately and actions escalated appropriately
  • Assist senior colleagues in the provision of data and analysis, web content and other materials for events, publications or meetings.

About you

You should be educated to a minimum of degree level or have equivalent experience in a related research administration or funding sector environment with the enthusiasm for the importance of arts and humanities research.

You must have excellent organisational skills with good administration experience and the ability to work flexibly and multi-task with good attention to detail.

You will possess a good working knowledge of IT (preferably MS packages) and be comfortable with databases.

You must be a good communicator with great interpersonal skills, so you can negotiate with colleagues at all levels inside and outside of the organisation.
