The Heart Centre – based at Queen Mary’s Charterhouse Square campus - provides a flow of innovative new therapies from the laboratory to patients across north-east London and beyond. The Centre is unique in its ability to encompass laboratory work with patient engagement through its internal Clinical Research Centre which can call upon a broad range of clinical experts from Queen Mary, University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust to run clinical studies in multiple therapeutic areas, specializing in but not limited to: cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrinology, addiction and rheumatology. The Heart Centre forms part of Barts and The London NIHR Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit and provides the cardiovascular research hub for the Barts Heart Centre.

The main purpose of this role is to manage the commercial feasibility process at the WHRI Clinical Research Centre and to facilitate set-up of clinical trials within the Unit. This involves managing the review and confidentiality agreements (CDAs) between Barts/QMUL and external commercial companies, manage receipt and distribution of all feasibility questionnaires from pharmaceutical companies and the CRN, tracking and moving forward study set-up.

The postholder must be able to manage a large number of projects at various stages of feasibility/set-up and problem solve to remove blocks which are creating delays. The postholder must develop and maintain strong links with investigators within Barts, the CRN North Thames, pharmaceutical and CROs.

Applicants should have substantial experience of the development, conduct and management of clinical research trials within an NHS/University setting. The role also includes assessing the feasibility of clinical trials for the IQVIA Prime Site across UCLP. The role holder will be the main contact for the receipt and distribution of capability and feasibility clinical trial surveys from external IQVIA to the UCLP organisations and potential investigators. They will manage the feasibility and site selection process to maximise the number of studies reaching start-up.

The post-holder will report to the Clinical Research Centre Manager, Dr Vivienne Monk.

The post is full time, fixed term for 24 months. Starting salary will be in the QMUL Grade 5 range £36,677 - £43,142 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
