University of Kent - Kent Law School

Kent Law School (KLS) seeks to appoint at least three Professors of Law to support continued development of the School’s research capacity and international profile. The School is committed to excellence in research and critical legal education and to public service. KLS is an internationalised law school, recruiting half of the student body and a good proportion of academic staff from outside the UK.

The successful applicants will build on and strengthen the School’s identity as a Critical, European and International, diverse and interdisciplinary Law School that delivers excellence in teaching, research and public service. We welcome applications from senior academics with a proven and sustained record of outstanding publications and research leadership.

Applicants with experience in capturing large grants and able to demonstrate the impact of their work are particularly welcome. Successful candidates will be keen to contribute to teaching in a diverse critical law school, to supervise research students and to mentor early career colleagues. They will enjoy working collaboratively in a supportive and collegial work environment.

As Professor of Law you will:

  • Publish influential research outputs of outstanding quality.
  • Provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of critical, interdisciplinary research-led education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Create new international links and nurture existing collaborations to strengthen the Law School’s international profile and reputation for research and education.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Doctorate (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Evidence of a strong track record of world-leading publication.
  • Teaching skills appropriate to higher education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
