The Wessex Institute is commencing an exciting new phase in our health research funding and management work, and we are looking for Administrators to work across the business within our research management functions. A generic job description and person specification is attached. 

As an Administrator you will provide comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support to an area of the business supporting research management. This work could include organising external meetings such as funding board and panel meetings, editorial board meetings and visits to research teams. It will also include using our management information system and other systems to accurately record research management and produce correspondence to meeting members, reviewers and researchers. Administrators will need to be prepared to work flexibly between a variety of functional areas as required.

You will communicate confidently with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues at all levels, suppliers, senior clinicians, academics, and patient and public representatives. You will also answer queries and act as the first point of contact for queries for the team.

You should have sound administrative experience, a high level of accuracy, strong IT skills, and an interest in supporting the development of health research in the UK. You will be joining an enthusiastic and cohesive team who are committed to adding maximum value to the management of health research.

You will be joining the Wessex Institute, a large and vibrant enterprise unit based at the University of Southampton’s Science Park, Chilworth, which is home to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC), funded by the Department of Health. The institute is within the University’s Faculty of Medicine and has a dedicated staff team focused on making a difference to patients and the public and providing research evidence to meet the needs of decision makers in health and social care.
