This post, available for three years, will entail performing innovative cost effectiveness analyses and other relevant health economics modelling/analysis in cancer, in a cross centre collaboration within the Institute of Health Sciences, between Professor Mark Lawler, of the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology, Professor Ciaran O’Neill, of the Centre for Public Health (CPH) and Dr Anna Gavin, of the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry and CPH. External collaborators include Professor Richard Sullivan, Director of the Institute of Cancer Policy, Kings College London with whom Professor Lawler has strong research links and published numerous papers in high quality international journals.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A PhD (or be about to obtain, within 6 months of closing date) in the area of Health Economics, or in a discipline in a clearly related area.
  • At least three years’ recent research experience and skills relevant to the subject area e.g. experience of health economics of human disease.
  • Experience of using data modelling and data analysis approaches.
  • Experience of management, co-ordination and analyses of projects involving health economic assessment.
  • Publication record commensurate with the stage of career.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of developing/applying research methodologies and devising models, approaches, critiques and methods.
