Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Chinese Language and Literature in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 201800313)

Applications are invited for tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in Chinese Language and Literature in the Faculty of Education, to commence on September 1, 2018, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, a professional teaching qualification in the relevant discipline, and substantial experience in teaching at the tertiary level. Knowledge of the local context would be an advantage. Applicants should be strongly committed to high-quality scholarly research and have teaching experience in at least two of the following areas: Chinese literature, Chinese language education, and teaching Chinese as a second language. The appointee will be required to teach courses at various levels from undergraduate to doctorate, supervise research postgraduate students, contribute actively to research, undertake school practicum supervision, and assume administrative responsibilities.

A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
