Lecturer in Design

The Department of Architecture and the Built Environment is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic lecturer with experience of product design to teach on and help develop our highly successful undergraduate programmes, BA(hons) Product Design and BSc(hons) Product Design Technology and our suite of undergraduate and postgraduate Architecture programmes.

We are looking for someone with high level of competence in product design. Suitable applicants for this post will be up to date with current developments in product design and the design industry. He / she will also be able to demonstrate expertise in product design and in-depth specialist expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Sustainable design
  • Parametric design / Generative design
  • Creative application of materials and processes in design
  • CAD / Advanced digital design & Digital fabrication in architecture or design
  • Advanced digital visualisation and communication

In addition to expertise in product design, they will be called upon to teach in other areas of the department, including our foundation in design and architecture. Other duties will depend upon the background of the appointee, who will be expected to make an enthusiastic contribution to the life of the department and faculty.

A proven track record in research, through publication in major conferences and journals, or through practice is desirable.
