Senior Technician (Precision Engineering Workshop)

The Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Science is seeking to appoint a Senior Technician in the Structural Integrity / Engineering Team within the Materials, Design & Engineering area.

As a Senior Technician in the Structural Integrity / Engineering Team you will assist with the day to day support to the Integrated Workshops - this includes the precision workshop, mechanics lab, welding and fabrication, reverse engineering and other facilities that support the broader needs within the art, design and engineering field.

You must be educated to HNC/HND or above in a relevant subject and / or have significant experience in materials engineering and metrology. Able to lead by example, you will be well organised and have a shared responsibility for local health and safety implementation. Some flexibility towards working hours is also required, and you will be responsible for equipment maintenance in liaison with appropriate team members.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills you will carry out training & demonstrating of equipment operation to staff, students and external collaborators in order to support undergraduate, postgraduate and research and consultancy projects.
