Project and Facilities Engineer

Applications are invited for a Project and Facilities Engineer. The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

The EPSRC’s National Thin-Film Cluster Facility (delivery planned for early 2019) will include several interconnected, but independent deposition chambers (thermal, e-beam, sputter, ALD) for the fabrication of multilayer structures of organic semiconductors, inorganic and hybrid perovskites, metals, transparent conducting oxides etc. The project is led by Henry Snaith and Dr Moritz Riede (Oxford Physics) and is a collaboration between the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Loughborough and Imperial College London.

The successful candidate will take primary responsibility for overseeing the design, procurement, budget management, acceptance testing and commissioning of the EPSRC National Thin Film Cluster Facility. They will liaise with scientific investigators, participate in both internal and external networks, design training packages and liaise with building service providers to develop a suitable laboratory for support of the Thin Film Cluster.

Applicants should possess at least a Master's degree in Engineering (2.1 equivalent or above) or relevant field, excellent project management experience and supervision skills in a technical environment, and technical experience of large vacuum coating equipment. Previous experience in delivering a similar project, in PLC control, or in design and visualisation software will be an advantage.

A recognized project management qualification is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to demonstrate their ability to organise their own work load and take initiative as appropriate. They also should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills in an interdisciplinary and international environment.
