Research Associate or Senior Research Associate in Hardware Electronics Engineering for Single Photon Detectors in Quantum Communications

Research Associate full-time starting salary is in the range of £32,548 to £36,613. Senior Research Associate full-time starting salary is in the range of £36,613 - £41,212.

A Research Associate or Senior Research Associate position is available at the Quantum Engineering Technology Labs (QETLabs). This is an open-ended post until 31st March 2019 and may be extended subject to future funding. The post is part of the InnovateUK funded Project QDOS and offers an ideal opportunity to work at the cutting edge of quantum.

You will work together with researchers and industrial partners in the QDOS project to formulate project plans, carry out feasibility studies, and develop and implement the electronic systems required to operate GHz gated InGaAs/InP single photon detectors for quantum secured communications. Tasks will range from fault-finding and repairing existing circuitry, through board design, developing firmware, schematic capture and layout for high speed analogue and digital devices, to collaborating with group members on developing concepts and testing new prototypes.

Experience in one or more of the following is required: analogue circuit design, firmware development, PCB layout and assembly, with experience of high-speed (>GHz) design, testing, and implementation. Experience of working in teams specialising in technology development is essential.
